Meet your guide at the entrance to the Vatican Museums where you will enter with skip the line tickets. Your guide will offer detailed commentary as you explore the museums with their numerous galleries. Visit the Octagonal Courtyard, which houses an extraordinary collection of antique sculptures collected by Pope Julius II, such as the Apollo of Belvedere, the Torso of Belvedere, and the Lacoon. Continue on to the Gallery of the Candelabra, which contains Roman copies of Hellenistic originals from the 2nd to the 3rd century BC and great 2nd century candelabras. Then proceed to the Gallery of Maps, where the walls and ceilings are frescoed with a series of topographical maps of Italy based on drawings by friar and geographer Ignazio Danti. You will also see the amazing Borgia Apartments and Raphael’s rooms, famous for their frescoes.
