Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour
This 2,5-hours tour takes you out of the tourist-crammed historical center and into the local-loving Prati neighborhood to meet some real Romans and eat the food that they eat.
What You Can Expect
Enjoy a mid morning start at our favorite place to get fresh, organic breakfast. We’ll start at FaBio, a bar that serves only organic products as we sip famous Italian coffee and all natural breakfast treats like the crostata di visciole (ricotta and sour cherry cake). Italians enjoy breakfast on the sweeter side, so like locals we will start our day the same way.
As we stroll through the chic, off the beaten track Roman neighborhood of Prati, we’ll pass some famous sights, including the Vatican as our guides explain insider details and interesting historical facts.
Once at the market, you’ll taste at least 20 award-winning, traditionally grown and cultivated products that we have specially selected as the best the entire market has to offer. All tastings are fresh, local, and in-season. These products have been sold at this market for generations, and you’ll have the opportunity to speak to each producer about the delicious products that you will be trying. By the end of the tour, our guests will have tried the highest quality, traditionally made meats, cheeses, pizzas, vegetables, olive oils, wines, deserts, and more.
You’ll learn why this particular market is considered so important, and has endured through the city’s changes over time. You’ll come to understand why this is the very market where we purchase high quality ingredients to serve our own families, and why we are passionate about taking visitors here.
Please Note: we offer substitutions for guests who are: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-intolerant. Please advise at time of booking if dietary restrictions apply.
