Make your way to Rome’s Termini Train Station for an 8:15 departure—you’ll receive all travel documents by email, so you’ll be ready for the day.

Enjoy views of the Italian countryside during the 3-hour, 20-minute train ride, which also passes through the historic cities of Florence and Bologna. Upon arrival in Venice, you’re free to spend the day exactly as you wish, using the convenient vaporetto ferry system to explore the city.

One highlight of any trip to Venice is Basilica di San Marco, where you’ll find ground-gold mosaics, a richly-decorated interior, and an altar that’s encrusted with a constellation of precious gems. After your time at the Basilica, make the short walk to the Doge’s Palace, or pause in St. Mark’s Square for an espresso in an open-air café. Find a canal-side seat to watch gondolas slide under the Ponte dei Sospiri, or Bridge of Sighs, and take some time to wander the city’s distinctive, narrow streets.

At the end of your day in Venice, return to the train station for the high-speed trip back to Rome, where this excursion concludes.
