The Columbarium of Pomponius Hylas is a Roman columbarium of the first century, completely preserved by the famous via Appia.
The columbarium is a special type of tomb widely used in Rome by those who couldn’t afford the luxury of a large tomb, but wanted that their ashes were still preserved in a decent way. So, they were given the opportunity to join a funerary association that gave these people the possibility to be buried thanks to the payment of a sum of money. *PLEASE TAKE NOTE that all our tours are on a private basis for your party, not in sharing tour with other people*
