The tour continues to inside the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica for a special up-close perspective. A lift will take you to the main level inside the vault, which offers a fantastic view of the breathtaking mosaics and elaborate decor. This view provides a true perspective on the artisans’ efforts and techniques used for such intricate work. Then, climb the 281 steps to the highest point of the Dome. St. Peter's Basilica
Back at ground level, explore St. Peter’s Basilica, and be sure to visit Michelangelo's Pietà, the only piece of work the famous sculptor ever signed. Learn how Michelangelo triumphed over his peers for the distinct honor to paint St. Peter’s heavenly arch. You’ll also enter the underground ecclesiastical tomb, where many Popes have been buried throughout the centures. You’ll also discover various houses of prayer, and shrouded graves.
