A tribute to brave ones who offered their lives to restore peace and liberty in Europe. After the landing at the beach-heads of Anzio and Nettuno in the night of January 22th, 1944, the first victims were temporarily inhumated in Nettuno two ays later. The present number of 7862 tombs includes also the fallen ones in Sicily and at Salerno while the names of 3094 missing in action are celebrated on the marble walls of the America Memorial; at the center a bronze statue of the "brothers in arms" dedicated to the G.I. and the sailors who lost their lifes in Italy and on the walls three pained maps illustrate the phases of Campaign of Italy.

Museo Storico Piana delle Orme
After a tribute to those heroes, you will reach the Museum of "Piana delle Orme, a vast open air museum illustrating with thousands of originals the transformation of the area of Anzio and Cassino before and after the WWII. Life-size dioramas re-enact the different moments of the war, showing the clash of Italians,Germans and Allies in Greece, Africa and Italy; you'll be caught again in the long line of vehicles landing in Anzio, witness the desperate german resistance at Nettuno's gun emplacement, thrown in the heart of the fight and destruction at Cassino. The museum offers and incredible variety of items still functioning and frequently used in movies and anniversary re-enactments, but the best piece is probably the only surviving amphibious Sherman tank, recently recovered from the sea at Anzio and perfectly restored. Lunch at the Museum Holiday Farm is included.
