Overview

We offer an English speaking driver who can provide transportation, but highly recommend adding a private guide for a more memorable experience.

Ancient Rome was a civilization that grew out of the city-state of Rome, founded on the Italian peninsula in the 8th century BC. It came to dominate Western Europe and the entire area surrounding the Mediterranean Sea through conquest and assimilation, but eventually succumbed to barbarian invasions in the 5th century, marking the decline of the Roman Empire and the beginning of the Middle Ages.

Itinerary
Stop At:
Via dei Fori Imperiali
Your driver will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby or where needed, holding a sign with your name on it. The area containing many archaeological sites is described as ancient Rome, from the Via dei Fori Imperiali where the impressive forum is located, to the Coliseum, the Circus Maximus and the Baths of Caracalla. Archaeological remains can also be spotted all over the Eternal City, in the least expected places, and many can be discovered beneath the modern city of Rome. Visit the Catacombs of the early Christians, miles of underground burial sites up to four stories deep, just outside the Ancient city walls of Rome, and also the believed site of illegal worship during the persecutions. Also visit some of the major churches in Rome such as St. John's Cathedral, St. Mary's Major and St. Paul's outside the walls.
