Colosseum
The most recognized ancient monument and an iconic symbol of Rome is certainly the Colosseum! This ancient wonder built in 79 AD was first named the Flavian Amphitheater after the family of Emperors Vespasian and his son Titus under whose leadership the amphitheater was built. The name Colosseum is believed to have originated from the colossal bronze statue of Nero that was erected near the amphitheater. You have the opportunity to visit the interior of the Colosseum if you wish to do so, provided you book tickets online in advance.

Pantheon
One of the oldest and best-preserved ancient monuments built in 126 AD, it’s been in continuous use throughout history and converted into the church dedicated to Saint Mary and the Martyrs in the 7th century. Some of history’s most distinguished figures are buried here: Kings Vittorio Emanuele II, Umberto I, Queen Margherita, and the celebrated artist Raphael. The oculus in the center of the coffered dome above provides light and ventilation, and when it rains the water drains below the floor through a drainage system. Admittance is € 2 per person to be paid upon entrance.

Spanish Steps
Climb the 18th-century stairs to reach the French Church of Trinità dei Monti or hang out on the steps for some people-watch as the locals do. An exquisite feature of the piazza at the foot of the stairs is the Fountain of the "Bracaccia" which, despite its name "old an ugly boat" is a beautiful fountain designed by Bernini's father.

Stop At:
Trevi Fountain
From La Dolce Vita to Three Coins In A Fountain, the Trevi Fountain has been featured in so many films that it’s one of the most distinguished fountains in Rome! No visit to Rome is complete without a visit to the Trevi Fountain. People crowd around the gushing Baroque fountain and its nautical statues for the opportunity to throw a coin over their shoulder and wish for a return visit to Rome. After it will be time for lunch!

Stop At:
Vatican Museums
At the Vatican Museums you’ll walk through the spectacular halls covered in art and displaying significant masterpieces, see the famous sculpture of Laocoon that was the first purchased piece for the museum founded in early 16th century by Pope Julius II, walk through the breathtaking Cortile del Belvedere, Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of the Maps, The Flemish Tapestry Room...and then the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s finest work: the Sistine Ceiling and the Last Judgment. After the Vatican Museums, you will visit the largest church in all of Christendom: Saint Peter’s Basilica. Here you will admire Bernini’s baldacchino (the 98 foot tall bronze canopy altar), Cathedra Petri (throne of St Peter) and the yellow alabaster window with the Dove of the Holy Spirit in the center illuminating the altar area, the large niches surrounding the central space around the baldacchino with statues of religious figures displaying the four most precious relics of the Basilica, and among other awe-inspiring treasures, Michelangelo’s famous Pieta. Price of Vatican Museums Admission Tickets with no line booked online up to 60 days in advance at 22 Euros per person. Tickets are NOT refundable. Should you not find tickets online, please send us a message for prices and prepayment so that we can assist via a concierge service. Because the Vatican Museums are so vast and labyrinthine that makes it overwhelming for first time visitors, and possess such an incredible amount of precious art that is often missed without the guidance of an expert, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND hiring a private English speaking licensed Vatican Guide to accompany you on a 2 hour tour through the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. IF YOU WISH TO HIRE A VATICAN TOUR GUIDE, PLEASE SELECT THE UPGRADE VATICAN GUIDE OPTION OF THIS TOUR.
