Overview
Take this fantastic day trip from Rome to the so-called "dying" town of Bagnoregio and then to the fortified town of Orvieto. You will be collected by your private driver in the comfort of a luxurious minivan, either at your hotel in Rome or at the port of Civitavecchia, and you will then be driven into the countryside of Lazio and through the Tiber River valley. Bagnoregio is a medieval village perched on top of a hill which is slowly being eroded by winds and water, and it has been used as the backdrop to many films and tv series. Orvieto stands on top of a high volcanic rock protected by its castle and fortifications. The centre of the town is outstandingly beautiful and its Cathedral is one of the finest in Europe. You will be able to see the St. Brixius Chapel as well as several other attractions including St. Patrick's Well. Although not as famous as the city itself, the area surrounding Rome is rich in art, history and breathtaking landscapes. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and take a trip into the countryside north of Italy's capital. You will be collected at your hotel by a private driver and expert local guide in a luxury air-conditioned minivan, and then you will be taken through the Tiber River Valley to Bagnoregio, a “dying” town which will be the first stop on your tour.
Bagnoregio is a beautiful medieval village perched on top of a hill which is gradually being eroded by wind and water. It is surrounded by a gorgeous landscape which has featured in many movies and which has hosted many an important event. Your tour will then proceed across rolling hills covered with fruit trees and vineyards as far as Orvieto. This ancient town was built high up on volcanic rock and is characterised by quaint narrow medieval streets and beautiful monuments such as St. Patrick's Well, the Cathedral and the Chapel of St. Brixius, which houses Signorelli's “Last Judgment”.
The town will also provide you with awe-inspiring views across the Tiber Valley, and at the end of the tour your driver will take you back to Rome or anywhere else you would like to go in the area.
