After much searching and reviewing, I finally booked this evening museum tour for our family (2 adults and kids 14 & 10). We found the meeting place without too much work. David was our guide, and my husband and I agreed that he is hands-down the best guide we've ever had. I would have hired him on the spot to be our personal guide to Rome for the following three days. He kept the group together, kept us informed of all the quirky things we could expect of the guards/Vatican staff, gave us ample time for pictures (kept us moving but never felt rushed), was really good with kids, and kept the whole thing interesting and engaging with lots of extra information.

Actually ours was a private tour (the two of us with a guide) with an aperitif and snacks before we actually went on the tour. For us it was as good as it could be. The issue is not with the tour company but with the Vatican itself. Five years ago, I was on a tour with a group of about a dozen. We were the last group into the Sistine Chapel and were there alone. That kind of tour is no longer available because the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are open until 10:00 p.m. Clearly the Vatican is making up for what it lost due to COVID. That said our guide was thorough, knowledgable, and easy to understand.

Wow what an amazing experience. It wound up just being my husband and I on the tour and it was so wonderful. Marzia was a very informative tour guide who had a passion for the Vatican. We learned a lot about the Vatican from her and we left very happy with choosing the night time tour. It was beautiful to see the Vatican at night time.
