Reviews for Rome Jewish Quarter & Trastevere Food Tour With Rooftop
Highlights from Romes Culinary Traditions

Aurelio was great! Fun way to experience the Jewish Quarters and the Trastevere neighborhood. Food and drinks included: Jewish fried artichoke, suppli (rice ball), baccala (dried salted cod), ciammbella (Napoletan donut), embraica (Jewish pizza from from Pasticceria Boccione), local beer at Johnny’s Off License and topped off with a rooftop charcuterie and learning how to make a Spritz. I recommend bringing water and be prepared that there are a lot of fried foods which were born out of restricted access and necessary resourcefulness in the face of poverty. Highly recommend!
A delicious education

Not only was the food delicious but Illaria, our wonderful guide, provided unique insights into each dish and a fascinating history of the experiences of the Jewish community in Rome. The special surprise at the end of the tour was delightful! Plan to arrive early to spend some sobering time at the holocaust exhibit near the start point of the tour.
Unforgettable journey deep into the heart of Jewish-Italian heritage

This Roman food tour wasn't just about filling our bellies (though it certainly did that too!). It was a captivating journey through the history of the Eternal City, told one delicious bite at a time. We explored the vibrant Jewish Quarter, learning about its rich culinary traditions that have beautifully intertwined with Roman cuisine over centuries. Our guide Ilaria, a passionate foodie with a deep knowledge of history, led us to hidden gems where we savored authentic dishes. We sampled the iconic Roman-Jewish fried crispy artichoke. Each stop offered a new story, from the origins of "supplì" (fried rice balls) to the significance of fresh seasonal ingredients in Roman cooking. We weren't done yet though! The grand finale was a rooftop view of the eternal city and the St. Peter Basilica accompanied by refreshing glasses of spritz and the chance to reminisce about the day's culinary adventures. Unforgettable!
A Culinary Journey Through History: Exploring the Jewish Ghetto with Fernanda

Exploring the Jewish Ghetto of Rome was not just a culinary experience; it was a journey through time, culture, and flavors. Each bite of the tour was a revelation. From the savory delicacies to the sweet treats, every dish carried with it centuries of tradition and history. Fernanda's passion for the cuisine and her deep knowledge of the area's heritage shone through with every explanation. The grand finale in the rooftop truly stole the show. As we ascended to the picturesque view, Fernanda guided us through the art of making spritz. This tour is an absolute must-do.
Wonderful experience with excellent food

This was an excellent food tour with guide Chiara B. We were provided knowledgeable history facts and food tasting e.g. fried artichokes. The roof top spritz lesson was beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful tour.
