What an outstanding day! Our driver Paolo was so attentive guiding us thru a long long day. Our guide was Sasha (sp). He was delightful, clearly an expert who shared history as well as interesting tidbits, left us wishing it had been longer.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Our guide in Pompeii was great and full of information, I believe his name was Sacha or Sasha. Alessandro was our guide for Sorrento and he was super sweet and very friendly, I hope when I return I will be in on one of his tours again. Pompeii was so amazing and Sorrento was absolutely beautiful

A mixed bag

First the bad: The tour description clearly says there is an "Engaging English-Speaking Trip Leader for the Day". We showed up for the tour and there was only a driver who speak almost no English, no trip leader. As a driver, he was fine, but barely engaged with us. When we arrived in Sorrento, the driver indicated we should be back in 2 hours, sent us off and didn't give us any suggestions. The good: Pompeii was excellent and the guide, Sasha, really knew his stuff. There were only 7 of us, so it was a great sized group. We saw groups of 50 travelling round the site and a small group is definitely recommended. It would have been much more difficult to do Pompeii and Sorrento from Rome by ourselves in a day. We were in Sorrento on a Sunday in winter and most of the shops and restaurants were closed. That said, there were still plenty of places to eat. None of that is on the tour company and the Amalfi is spectacular, but just something to be aware of. So. overall 3 stars. It would have been 4 or 5 stars if we'd had a trip leader. A small group tour is the perfect way to see Pompeii and Sorrento. I'd probably try a different tour company if we'd known there was no trip leader.
