- During summer months in rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Vesuvius may be closed to visitors, therefore, if this is the case, it is replaced with a visit to Positano where you will get free time to explore the city.
- From early November to March the Vesuvius isn't accessible and it is replaced with a visit to Positano where you will get free time to explore the city.
- Option to upgrade to Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Positano Small-Group Day Trip from Rome with private coach (Mt Vesuvius or Naples not included)

- While our day trips are typically of a fixed duration, external factors may occasionally extend tour times slightly. We appreciate your understanding and planning as we strive to provide you with the best possible experience.
- The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

We had a great time. The climb up Mount Vesuvius was beautiful. Hard to believe she is smoking. Nickolas, our tour guide at Pompeii was fantastic. Very thorough. Definitely recommend this tour.
POMPEII AND POSITANO DAY TRIP

A few days ago on 23/5/24 my family and I ( a party of x5 ) went on an amazing and quite wonderful day trip to Pompeii and Pontisano. It was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The ancient site of Pompeii was everything and more than I expected. Pontisano magnificently beautiful.
I would like to in particular, bring to your attention, the expert knowledge and skills of our bus tour guide on the day. What a star 'John' ( Jonathon ) from City Wonders Tours. I came away having learned so much about Italy, the Italians ancient and modern, their way of life past and present and so much more. His depth of knowledge was astonishing, his sense of humour a joy and all I can say is that City Wonders are extremely lucky to have such a talented tour guide working for them. Hold on to him and to John, keep up the magnificent work that you do.
I would also briefly like to mention Carlos our Pompeii tour guide for bringing the tour of the ancient city alive. And not least of all Luca our bus driver on the day for keeping us all safe on our journey.

Fun time - not what is advertised

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius were both very interesting and we had a lovely time. However, we selected the option to go on a walk with a geologist to Mount Vesuvius and, while he was a good guide, he was clearly not a geologist. As someone from a scientific background, I was hoping to learn more about the sciences of the volcano and it was very basic information we received. It just wasn't at all what was advertised.
Our guide in Pompeii was personable but her knowledge seemed quite questionable on the history and science of Pompeii (she and our morning guide shared conflicting information quite a few times). Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Amphitheatre during the tour.
We made the most of the trip, but it was not what was advertised. Having travel and food coordinated for us was very nice, and it was a good way to see the sights of Pompeii and Vesuvius, but we didn't experience what was described in the listing.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE.
The tour was brilliant from meeting to being dropped off.
Pompeii was outstanding and our guide Anna was both informative and fun.
Our tour guide Enrique was brilliant and looked after us throughout the tour.
Vesuvius was a highlight. Amazing views at the top (on a clear, sunny day).
WORDS OF WARNING - The walk to the summit takes about 30 minutes and is a steep climb on loose ground.
We had a delicious 3 course meal in between Pompeii and Vesuvius.
All in all, the tour took 13 hours from start to finish, so it is a long day. The journey from Rome takes about 3 hours, with a stop in between.

Eduardo was a fantastic tour guide! We enjoyed our time with him! While I was unable to complete the hike (a lot of walking this trip & it was slick from the earlier rain) I still had a great time at both Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius! I learned so much & enjoyed all the stops along the way! Highly recommend this tour & highly recommend Eduardo!
