Then look down into the underground corridors where wild beasts were kept before the shows from the second floor of the amphitheater. You will learn about its complicated construction, diverse usage, and social importance while hearing compelling stories of gladiators and spectators, and of the times when the amphitheater was at its most important. Tour time changed at last minute
Had a reservation for a 10:30 am tour. Tour operator sent an e-mail via Viator 7 hrs earlier (in middle of night) saying tour was overbooked and changing time to 9:30. No other options given if couldn’t make that time. I was coming from a cruise ship and wasn’t arriving in Rome until 10:00. Due to horrendous lines for individual entry tickets meant I couldn’t get in to see interior of Colleseum at all. Extremely disappointed. Then had a problem getting a refund. On-site tour people said contact Viator. Viator online chat person initially said refund had to come from tour company since was a non-refundable tour. E-mail address they gave me was invalid. Got another Viator agent who was very helpful and quickly processed my full refund. Overall a disappointing and frustrating experience.
Not as advertised
I am requesting my $ back- I was never able to get inside - I told Viator that I need to leave tour early and they told me that since I paid that I have a tix to get into colosseum whenever I wanted to- this was not the case
Overpriced for what we got
Very disorganized from the beginning. It was very busy (Easter Monday), but two young ladies checking in hoards of people for four different tour companies with no form of ques just meant for mayhem. Finally we were all told that our 10 am tour time had been changed to 11 am or 1:30 pm. They said we had all been emailed about the change but no one had been. Lots of upset people who had other plans in the afternoon. No reason given. We returned at the later time and there still seemed to be a lot of disorganization so our tour started late. We had Olga as a guide and she was pleasant but not exuberant or engaging. Just delivered fact after fact about the history etc. It was interesting but made for a long 3 hours. Plus the crowds were large and we waited quite a while to go through security twice. Palentine Hill section seemed a bit too long for our liking. Overall we were glad to see the Colosseum but an audio guide may have suited us more. And the delayed start time really messed up our day.
First time in Rome
Our tour guide Rebecca was really nice. Very informative about the history of Rome. She had a great sense of humor and kept everyone up. Overall great tour
