Escape the chaotic Rome and discover the beauties of the crumbling ruins of Civita di Bagnoregio and the picturesque countryside of Castiglione in Teverina with our VIP private tour.
Nicknamed The Dying City due to the constant erosion of the tuffaceous rocks in which it is located, Civita di Bagnoregio is certainly one of the most characteristic villages in Italy where time seems to standstill. On foggy days, this splendid town, reachable only through a narrow pedestrian bridge about 300 meters long, seems literally suspended in mid-air.
Castiglione in Teverina is a town of Viterbo Province that lies on top of a hill of tuff origin which overlooks the Tiber Valley. This peculiarity makes it a beautiful natural landscape, rich in forests and lush vegetation.
You will enjoy a complimentary pick-up/drop-off by a luxury car available for the whole tour, a professional guide just for you and a lunch in a typical restaurant.

Stop At:
Civita di Bagnoregio
Founded by the Etruscans, Civita di Bagnoregio is a magical place located on a tufa headland, flanked at the base by two deep canyons carved by the waters of Rio Chiaro and Rio Torbido. It is surrounded by the spectacular Calanchi Valley and can only be reached by a narrow pedestrian bridge about 300 meters long, from which you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lazio. Nicknamed "the dying city" due to the constant erosion of the tufa rocks in which it is located, it is today a small country where time seems to have stopped. Following the pedestrian viaduct, you reach the historic centre of the city entering through the Door of Santa Maria, the only one left of the original five and decorated with a couple of lions with the intention of grabbing the human heads. From here, you reach the main square of the city, dominated by the Church of San Donato. Inside the church, you can find is a wooden crucifix of the '400 and a fresco of the Perugino school. The tour continues with a walk through the characteristic alleys of the village with the typical low houses in tuff, enriched with decorative details such as medieval balconies and external stairs called "Profferli". Don't miss a visit to the panoramic underground caves of Ancient Civitas, transformed into a small museum of rural history. Inside, the typical tools of the past such as wine and oil presses, an oil mill, barrels, scales and spades are preserved but also numerous archaeological finds dating back to the Etruscan and Roman period.
