A Tranquil Sojourn away from Busy Rome and apart from Pompei Crowds

Our private tour with Silvia was excellent. We started with a morning coffee in a charming local cafe near the castle. Then Silvia led us through the Archeological Park and gave us a sense of the history of Ostia starting from it inception as a coastal military fortification. Silvia has a degree in archeology and spent time excavating at Ostia so she was able to impart to us an enormous respect for the preservation of this site. She was as informative as she was delightful, gracious, and easy-going. We loved this beautiful and peaceful attraction. I have been to Pompei and found Ostia Antica equally significant and representative of ancient town life. What a wonderful was to spend Easter Sunday outside of Rome. And our driver Claudio was efficient, punctual, and polite.
