When you return to ground level, explore St. Peter’s Basilica, see Michelangelo's Pietà, the only piece of work the famous sculptor ever signed. Learn how Michelangelo triumphed over his peers for the distinct honor to paint St. Peter’s heavenly arch. Enter the underground ecclesiastical tomb, where throughout the centuries, a significant number of Popes have been buried, and investigate the various houses of prayer, and shrouded graves.
