Get picked up at your hotel in Rome to start this exciting day-long trip to Siena. Take in the lush countryside of northern Lazio and Tuscany on the drive up and learn from your guide about the history of the Siena. Gawk at the verdant rolling hills, some clad in grapevines and others crowned by Tuscan villas. 

Once in town, take some free time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage-listed town on your own. Perambulate around the gorgeous square, the Piazza del Campo and wander down cobblestoned alleyways. Climb the bell tower on the square to get an incredible view of the town. Pop into the Basilica of St. Domenico to see the severed head of St. Catherine of Siena that's on display in a chapel. 

A little while later, meet up with your guide again for lunch at a centrally located restaurant where you'll enjoy a delicious 3-course meal of local specialties. After lunch, begin a walking tour of the city. Learn about the various contrades, or neighborhoods, and about the Palio, the horserace that happens in the square every July and August. Visit the majestic medieval cathedral. 

After exploring the main areas of interest in Siena, return to your coach and relax on the journey back to Rome. Your tour then finishes with a drop-off at the central Rome start point in the evening.
