Either meet your guide at your Rome hotel (if transfer option selected) or make your own way to Ostia (a short train ride from Rome) in time for a 9am or 2pm departure time (depending on option selected). Starting from the Ostia Antica ticket office, set out on a guided 2.5-hour walking tour of the ancient port.

Learn about life in ancient Roman times as you pass through the monumental Porta Romana gate and stroll down the central boulevard of Decumanus Maximus. Stop to explore the remains of the Terme di Nettuno amphitheater, peek into the thermal baths, and see the Temple of Rome and Augustus, the Square of the Guilds, and the Capitolium.

At the end of the tour, either return to the train station or meet your driver for the return journey to Rome.

Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica
Meet your local guide at the Ostia Antica ticket office and begin your 3 -hour guided walking tour of the site. Now a ghost town, Ostia was once Rome’s ancient port. Explore the maze of abandoned streets and buildings, enjoy the Baths of Neptune and admire the black and white mosaics of Neptune, Amphitrite, the theater and the forum, which was once the center of city life.  Your guide will share insights into how inhabitants used to live. It’s a walk into history where you can experience life as it was during the days when Rome was an important port to the entire ancient world.
