Itinerary

Meeting with the private tourist guide qualified in Rome to visit the Borghese Gallery, declared as the second most important art collection in the city after the Vatican Museums.

The villa, dating from the sixteenth century, offers the rare opportunity to see some of the most important private collections in the world, set up in their original setting. The collection was started by Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1579-1633), one of the most experienced art collectors of his time, nephew of Pope Paul V. He was one of the first patrons of Bernini and Caravaggio, both geniuses of the Italian baroque.

The Borghese Gallery comprises twenty rooms on two floors: on the lower floor are conserved classical antiquities and mosaic floors; on the upper floor the rich gallery, where you will have the chance to admire some unmissable masterpieces. Later you will visit the beautiful English-style gardens for a relaxing walk, an ideal place to escape from the crowded city. The tour will end at the terrace on the Pincio hill, with a breathtaking view of the Rome skyline for an aperitif and a tasting of 3 types of rice balls.
