The most important part of the tour is anyway at the end: the visit of the Crypta Balbi museum! A roman theatre built by Balbus in 13 BC, its structures were abandoned and plundered in the Dark Ages but the area was then resettled: were actors once performed, ironmongers and carpenters lived and worked by 1100 and later a convent covered the riuns preserving these many layers of history up to present days. Definitely one of the best and exclusive ways to understand Rome’s complexity!
