Itinerary
Stop At:
Sistine Chapel
At the end of your tour, you'll enter the Sistine Chapel to admire the most beautiful frescoes of the world, painted by Michelangelo himself. You will also fall in love with the frescoes Botticelli, Perugino and other Renaissance painters produced in the Sistine Chapel 30 years before Michelangelo started working in it.
St.Peter’s Basilica and Square will be included or not in the tour according to last minutes events (such as Holy Year’s celebrations and special Pope’s Masses). It means that once your guide knows if the Basilica will be open or not, he/she will handle the tour timing to give you time in the Basilica. Otherwise, more time will be spent in the Vatican galleries to cover the three hours.
Please note: Admission Tickets are not included in the price of the tour. Please read under Exclusions before booking the tour.
The tours start from the Pinecone Courtyard, and continue through the Pope's wonderful Ancient Roman collection, that includes some masterpieces of Ancient statuary. You'll then reach the Gallery of the Tapestries (where you can find some of the most beautiful tapestries of Europe, designed directly by Raphael's workshop and manufactured in the Flanders) and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps, where you will see an amazing Renaissance version of a world map on the walls.
If the church is opened to the public and not busy for cerimonies, your guides will take you inside to enjoy the largest catholic church in the world. Michelangelo's Pietà, the bronze canopu by Bernini are only two of the masterpiecies preserved in this incredible jewel. If there will be a cerimony, your guide will only accompain you to the entrance and making you skip the line. You'll continue the visit on your own pace. If the church will be closed for Pope's private events, you'll have a extended version of the museum tour
