Rome
Tour Rating 5.0
Description
Just 1 hour drive from Rome, you will be escorted on a first class Mercedes van over to an amazing region to explore and see what the WWII meant for many of our Veteran brothers who fought for us and mainly for Italy. We will explore the largest WWII museum in the World and on to visit an amazing medieval town (Sermoneta) built on a hill, from where the Germans used to shoot the allies approaching Rome from Anzio with long distance canons. We will then opt for a nice local lunch and will eventually visit the American War Cemetery in Anzio itself. A 9 hour immersion in our recent past. Come and enjoy your day with us.

Reviews for Wwii Anzio And Surroundings Veteran Private Tour
Anzio was an emotional experience for me.
Walter_E
This was a visit to the WWII battlefield museum and American cemetery at Anzio where my father, who died in 2018 at the age of 99, fought and was wounded in combat. It was an emotional experience for me as he had always wanted to visit the cemetery to see if some of his friends were buried there. This visit was an add on to a already planned religious pilgrimage tour with another tour company of Sicily and Italy and at its conclusion, I added on this tour of Anzio and another of Pompeii. I booked this Anzio tour well ahead of time, well before arriving in Italy in January 2024. Our driver was Angelo and he was great. He was very understanding of my emotional involvement as I was constantly thinking of my father as we toured. In addition, for lunch break he drove us to a quaint old medieval town Sermoneta where we enjoyed a fantastic authentic Italian lunch on Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend this tour, and especially Angelo, for anyone with a tie to WWII veterans who fought in Italy/Sicily.
