The day begins at the Coliseum where you meet your guide and with reserved tickets (no queuing) you go straight inside. You have a little time to wander about this breathtaking amphitheatre and your guide will tell you something of it history.
On the next part of the tour you can travel at your own pace and see some of the rooms not on the usual tourist itinerary. You meet with your guide at the entrance to the Vatican museums and head straight for the Belvedere Courtyard followed by the Pio-Clementine Museum with its wonderful display of statues from ancient Rome and Greece. Then the tour continues to see some of the museum’s artworks: the Gallery of Tapestries; the Gallery of Maps that is home to an unparalleled collection of Renaissance Maps; the Sobiesky Room where you will see the Vatican’s largest canvas and the wonderful frescoes in the Immaculate Conception Rooms.
